How to: Create Budget Groups

Use budget groups to organize campaigns, assign budgets, measure performance and optimize to key metrics.

  1. Log in to the Metadata platform
  2. Click Campaigns on the left navigation
  3. Click Groups in the upper navigation
  4. Click Add New Group
  5. Select Lead Generation or Brand Awareness

    Note:

Brand Awareness supports brand awareness campaigns, setting benchmarks based on CPC or CTR metrics and auto-optimizing based on campaigns with the best performing CPC.

Lead Awareness supports lead generation campaigns, setting benchmarks based on CPL or cpMQL metrics and auto-optimizing based on campaigns with the best performing CPL, MQL, triggered opportunities or influenced opportunities.

  6. Enter the Group Name

Tip: Be clear in how you name budget groups. Consider the following template: Country_Objective. Examples of this template in practice:

    NA_BookDemo
    EMEA_eBookDownload
    ANZ_WebinarRegistration

  7. Select Monthly Reset or Fixed Budget

    Note:

Monthly Reset groups are useful for monthly recurring budgets that do not have a strict start and end date.

Fixed Budget groups are useful when you have a start and end date for when your budget must be used.

  8. Enter your Monthly Cap or Date Range and Group Budget depending on the selected budget group type
  9. Set Auto-pause when monthly cap met and auto-restart when new months starts based on your preference

Tip: Enable this feature to prevent overspending and restart paused campaigns at the start of each month.

Note: This feature only impacts experiments that have been automatically paused by the Auto-pause when Monthly Cap Met feature. This feature will not automatically resume experiments that have been paused manually or paused as a result of auto-pause rules being met.

  10. Set Budget Optimization based on your preference

Note: Budget Optimization automatically distributes more budget to the experiments performing the best. Read How to: Configure Budget Optimization for more details.

  11. Select existing campaigns to add to your group
  12. Set your Target Metric and Goal Value based on your KPIs

Note: Target Metric and Goal Value appear in the Budget Groups page as data you can use to rate the performance of your budget groups. These settings do not affect the Budget Optimization or Mutual Success Plan features.

  13. Click Save.
