Error Resolutions Guide

Before you start — many launch errors are intermittent. Metadata automatically retries, but a retry isn't always enough — if an experiment shows an error, it's often worth simply relaunching the campaign again. Errors can also clear on their own: an experiment may briefly show an error and then update to Active shortly after, so giving it a little time can help. That said, if an experiment keeps returning an actual error message below, there is a real problem to fix.
- Unapproved Convo Ad Sender
- Campaign Group Created with an Objective
- User Currently Connected Lacks Permissions
- Exceeded Quota
- Ad Account Disabled
- Ad Creative Aspect Ratio Violation
- LinkedIn Carousel Ads Failure
- Duplicate Targeting Criteria
- Exceeding Maximum Job Titles in Native Audiences
- Privacy Policy Error on Google Search
- Meta Beneficiary
- Member Groups combined with EU Countries
- Performance Goal Not Selected (Meta)
- Campaign or Object Not Found
- Channel Not Connected
- Bidding Strategy Not Supported
- Channel / Server Error (Transient)
- Authorization / Token Expired
- Ads Inactive or Paused
- Out of Budget or Below Channel Minimum
- No Ad Sets or Creatives
- Keywords Not Serving (Google)
Unapproved Convo Ad Sender
Description: The Convo Ad Sender you're attempting to use may not have granted the necessary permissions.
Resolution: Ensure that all permissions are correctly configured for the sender. Double-check the sender settings.
Campaign Group Created with an Objective
Description: This error occurs when you create a campaign group natively on LinkedIn with an active group objective.
Resolution: Navigate to your LinkedIn Campaign Manager and edit the associated Campaign group to turn off the active objective. Note LinkedIn won't allow adjusting this once it is turned ON so you will need to create a new Campaign Group and re-connect with the newly created Campaign Group.
User Currently Connected Lacks Permissions
Description: This error typically arises when a connected user lacks the necessary permissions. For example, if the person no longer works there or has changed their password.
Resolution:Reconnect the channels with a user who possesses the required permissions.
Exceeded Quota
Description: This error happens when the connected Campaign Group with LinkedIn has reached the limit of how many campaigns can be lauched to it. The limit is 2000 campaigns.
Resolution: Re-create a new Campaign Group natively in LinkedIn with the objective turned OFF. After creating the new group disconnect and reconnect the LinkedIn Integration and choose this newly created campaign group.
Ad Account Disabled
Description: Your ad account may be disabled, and the business manager may need to request a manual review.
Resolution: Log in to your Ad Account and follow the steps to remove the block. If you need further assistance, reach out to our support team via support@metadata.io
Ad Creative Aspect Ratio Violation
Description: The aspect ratio of the video does not comply with LinkedIn's policy.
Resolution: Adjust the video's aspect ratio to meet the requirements.
Note: This also applies to other channels, as each channel has its own requirements for the Ad creative, see here for each channel's requirements.
Meta Beneficiary
Description: Meta requires that businesses advertising in certain regions declare a "beneficiary" company, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
Resolution: Check this guide: /portal/articles/get-started-add-beneficiary-for-meta-instagram>
Privacy Policy Error on Google Search
Description: The ad might be declined due to policy violations, including prohibited topics in the policy summary. Check to also make sure there are no invalid characters that have been added to the Ad, any invalid characters may cause the Ad to be declined.
Resolution: See Google's advertising recommendations.
Member Groups combined with EU Countries
Description: When trying to use Member Groups with EU countries the campaign may fail. LinkedIn currently does not allow this.
Resolution: Relaunch the campaign without Member groups with EU countries.
Performance Goal Not Selected (Facebook / Instagram)
Description: When launching on Facebook / Instagram (Meta), if you set the campaign Objective but did not select a Performance Goal, the experiment will fail to launch.
Resolution: Relaunch the experiment with a Performance Goal selected (in addition to the Objective).
Campaign or Object Not Found
Description: A referenced campaign, ad set, or audience no longer exists in the ad channel — often because it was edited or deleted directly in the channel.
Resolution: Recreate the missing object or relaunch the experiment from Metadata so it rebuilds in the channel.
Channel Not Connected
Description: The ad channel is not connected (or the connection has dropped) for this account, so experiments can't be pushed to it.
Resolution: Reconnect the channel in Settings → Channels, then relaunch the campaign.
Bidding Strategy Not Supported
Description: The selected bid strategy isn't supported for this campaign type or channel.
Resolution: Change the experiment's bid strategy to a supported option and relaunch.
Channel / Server Error (Transient)
Description: The ad platform returned a temporary server error (for example "Internal Server Error" or a timeout). These are usually intermittent.
Resolution: Wait a few minutes and relaunch the campaign. Metadata retries automatically, but a manual relaunch often clears it.
Authorization / Token Expired
Description: The channel authorization expired or was revoked — for example the connected user changed their password or lost access.
Resolution: Reconnect the channel in Settings → Channels with a user who has the required access, then relaunch.
Ads Inactive or Paused
Description: One or more ads in the experiment are inactive or paused, so the experiment can't deliver.
Resolution: Review and re-enable the ads in the experiment, then relaunch if needed.
Out of Budget or Below Channel Minimum
Description: The campaign is out of budget (budget used up), or the bid/budget is below the channel's minimum, so no ads run.
Resolution: Increase or replenish the campaign budget, or raise the bid above the channel minimum, then relaunch.
No Ad Sets or Creatives
Description: The experiment has no ad sets or creatives attached, so there is nothing to launch.
Resolution: Add creatives (and audiences or keywords) to the experiment before launching.
Keywords Not Serving (Google)
Description: One or more Google keywords aren't serving, usually due to a low quality score or bid.
Resolution: Review the keyword bids and quality, adjust them, and relaunch.
